Welcome to the web site of the Center for Public Policy & Administration at the University of Utah. The Center for Public Policy & Administration is engaged in academic, research and management development programs that are relevant to the people we serve and the future of our community. The Center’s outstanding staff have years of experience in public service and are focused on developing the leaders who will make important public policy decisions for Utah and the Intermountain West. The Center
continues its
distinguished
history dating
back to 1946
when it was
the Institute
of Government;
in 1979 it was
combined with
the Bureau of
Community Development
and renamed
the Center for
Public Policy
& Administration.
Today the Center
continues to
serve governments,
the community
and the public
by providing “research,
education, and
services to
public and nonprofit
organizations
that will strengthen
administration,
leadership and
public policy
making.” We
accomplish this
mission in a
variety of ways… CPPA staff conducts policy research for public and nonprofit agencies to inform the policymaking process and to evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and programs. We offer graduate degrees in public administration with an emphasis on the legal and ethical foundations of public service. Our education programs include organizational development interventions including organizational assessments and leadership and management development training. If you are
interested in
any of these
services, please
contact one
of our staff,
we would like
to be of service
to you. W. David Patton,
