Welcome to the ASPA Utah Chapter website!ASPA is the nation's most respected organization representing all forums in the public service arena. The mission of ASPA includes:

  • advancing the art, science, teaching, and practice of public and nonprofit administration;
  • promoting the value of joining and elevating the public service profession;
  • building bridges among all who pursue public purposes;
  • providing networking and professional development opportunities;
  • and achieving innovative solutions to the challenges of governance.

In our Utah Chapter, we have a diverse group of members from a wide range of public and nonprofit organizations working to achieve that mission.

The Utah Chapter hosts monthly luncheons featuring a wide range of speakers and panels covering interesting and timely topics. The luncheons are held in the Auditorium of the State Office Building (just north of the Capitol Building). The schedule for 2009-2010 includes:

October 7 - Utah's Plan to End Chronic Homelessness
November 12 - Utah's Preparation for a Pandemic/H1N1 flu
December 3 - E-governance
January 13 - Legislative Preview
February 4 - Transparency
March 4 - Recidivism
April 1 - Economic Update
May 6 - Annual Awards Luncheon

The ASPA Utah Chapter keeps everyone up to date through two primary resources, our newsletter, the ASPA BUZZ, and our website. In the BUZZ, we announce upcoming events, recap past luncheons, and offer insights from members of the ASPA Council. On our website we offer details on upcoming luncheons and past issues of the Buzz. We also offer the opportunity to nominate public servants for one of our annual awards. Please take the time to read about the awards (click the Awards tab on this page) and nominate someone deserving of recognition.

We would like to invite you to join ASPA. Membership in the national organization includes membership in the Utah Chapter. Membership also includes: subscription to the Public Administration Review Journal; subscription to the PA Times newspaper; career development opportunities; and other benefits. Visit www.aspanet.org for more details.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
