What do we
do?
The mission of the
Cassandra* Network
is to meet the professional
needs of female policy
analysts and policymakers
who work and live in
Utah, including those
who have felt isolated
from their male co-workers
and other women working
in public policy.
We exist to support
women in their efforts
to find their voice
in public policy debate.
We believe that there
are many women working
in public policy that
are an untapped resource
and who can become
the next legislators,
elected officials and
leaders.
We aim to build a
critical mass that
will:
- Provide a forum
to discuss important
policy topics and
workplace issues
around gender
- Provide opportunities
to network with other
women to build the
partnerships and
alliances necessary
for career progression
or to make the transition
into elected office
How
do we do it?
We currently
offer:
- Monthly discussions
around topics of
interest to members.
- Quarterly networking
meetings that allow
women interested
in public policy
to find others with
interests and policy
leanings similar
to their own, regardless
of party affiliation
or job description.
- Forums open to
the public to discuss
the roles and aspects
of women in public
policy.
- An online community
to discuss issues
as they arise and
reach out to those
that can’t
attend meetings.
In the future we
hope to offer:
- A mentoring program
for women at the
beginning of their
careers in public
policy
- Mentoring opportunities
for undergraduate
students at Utah’s
colleges and universities
- Projects with
public schools to
foster girls’ interest
in careers in public
policy provide opportunities
for women interested
in becoming policy
makers to learn how
to achieve this goal.
