Policy Research Projects
Current
The
Center for Education,
Business, and the Arts
in Kane County, Utah
CPPA is assisting the
Center for Education,
Business and the Arts
(CEBA) with their application
for a Rural Business
Enterprise Grant from
the U.S. Department
of Agriculture. The
grant would assist with
the costs of conducting
a comprehensive feasibility
study for the proposed
Center for Education,
Business, and the Arts
(CEBA) facility within
Kanab City, Utah.
Transportation
Infrastructure Survey
The Center for Public
Policy & Administration
along with the Utah
League of Cities and
Towns is conducting
a survey to assess
the state of infrastructure
in Utah's cities and
towns. The project
focuses upon several
aspects of transportation
infrastructure including
the quality, capacity,
and financing of transportation
infrastructure such
as roads and bridges
in the cities and
towns throughout the
state.
Recent
eGovernment
This paper is an overview
of electronic government.
It seeks to define the
term, discuss why it is
important, and how eGovernment
reaches maturity. Questions
of the "digital divide"
and concerns of policymakers
are addressed. The focus
then turns to Utah,
where we examine the
issues causing Utah
to be at the forefront
of eGovernment, and
how governments in Utah
are using digital technology
to advance and improve
service to citizens.
State
of the State Survey
CPPA
recently completed a survey
of Utahns to measure the
public's attitudes and opinions
about many of the issues
facing the state this year.
Because of economic conditions,
the Utah legislature must
decide how to allocate limited
funds this year. We asked
1,002 Utahns about cutting
state services, increasing
revenue and using the rainy
day fund. The survey also
delves into specific policy
issues, including transportation,
health care and education. Get
the survey results here.
Salt
Lake County
HB40 Project
CPPA created
educational materials,
coordinated public
meetings and conducted
a survey to assist the
county in determining
how the townships residents
feel about annexation,
incorporation, or remaining
in the unincorporated
area of the County.
Ongoing
Western
State Budget Reports
Western
States Budget
Reports CPPA
coordinates
with the 13
Western States
to produce
a summary
publication
of state budgets
that describes
the circumstances
and activities
in each of
the western
states. The
reports are
presented
each year
at a roundtable
discussion
during the
Western Political
Science Association
Meeting. These
reports were
initiated
in 1997 to
be of use
to individuals
interested
in contemporary
public budgeting
beyond pure
theory. The
states that
participate
in this effort
include: Alaska,
Arizona, California,
Colorado,
Idaho, Montana,
Nevada, New
Mexico, Oregon,
Texas, Utah,
Washington,
and Wyoming. See
the Western
State Budge
Reports.
